The First Post

Back in October, my mother, when asked what she’d like for her birthday, said, “I want you to make a writing website for yourself.”

Thinking I’d misheard, I clarified, “You want me to make a website for your writing?” Because my mother is also working on a book series.

“No, I want you to make a website for your writing.”

I paused. “That doesn’t sound like a gift for you, it sounds like a gift for me.”

“Well, it is a gift for me.”

So here we are.

I opted for a more blog-like style, which is much more pleasing to me on an intuitive level than I first thought it would be, but this probably because I spend too much of my free time reading various TTRPG blogs (like The Alexandrian or one of my favorites, Rise Up Comus!). This is definitively one of the many roadblocks I put between myself and actually finishing any of the writing projects I keep starting and then not finishing, but I must say, it makes for a great Thursday night running games for my friends.

I primarily intend this to be a website where people can, first and foremost, read the things I’ve written, be they short stories, tabletop rpg theory, or even what I think of Ulysseys (once I finish it, I swear it’ll happen this year). The fact it can also serve to advertise any books I manage to publish is kind of a bonus.

On the docket for the future: migrate over stuff from my dusty and neglected substack, set up some proper social media links which might involve automating posting, and actually finishing some drafts. Here’s to the website being done!
